Even with a well-conceived observation plan, the systems analyst is not assured that fact-finding will be successful. The above story which appears in a book by Gerald M. Weinberg’s called Rethinking Systems Analysis and Design gives is an entertaining yet excellent example of some of the pitfalls of observation.
