Interviews
How to Conduct an Interview
- Select Interviewees:
- You should interview the end-users of the information system you are studying.
- A formal organizational chart will help you identify these individuals and their responsibilities.
- You should attempt to learn as much as possible about each individual prior to the interview.
- Attempt to learn what their strengths, fears, biases, and motivations might be.
- The interview can then be geared to take the characteristics of the individual into account.
Notes:
Your success as a systems analyst is at least partially dependent on your ability to interview. A successful interview will involve selecting appropriate individuals to interview, preparing extensively for the interview, conducting the interview properly, and following up on the interview.
