Notes:
Project managers find PERT charts particularly useful for communicating schedules of large systems projects to superiors.
When a project manager identifies a critical task that is running behind schedule and that is in danger of upsetting the entire project schedule, alternative courses of action are examined. Corrective measures, such as the shuffling of human resources, might be taken. These resources are likely to be temporarily taken away from a noncritical task that is currently running smoothly. These noncritical tasks normally offer some slack time for the project.
