Some project managers like to use the PERT Chart to record predecessors and constraints. For example, In Project, you can use the mouse to drag a line from a predecessor task to a successor task. This can be much faster than looking up task IDs and recording them in tables (as we suggested in the discussion of Gantt Charts).
If durations have also been recorded, and resources have been assigned, Microsoft Project schedules the tasks as it did for Gantt Charts. In PERT Charts, the red rectangles are critical tasks, and the arrows which connect them make up the project’s critical path.
