Notes:
Resources complete the tasks that you have included in a Gantt Chart.
In system development methodologies, most resources are expressed in terms of roles that must be assigned to individuals.
In Microsoft Project, you must specify how much of a resource is available to your project and any other pertinent constraints on the resource. (Project provides forms and tables to enter this data). Then, based on this information, the schedule bars are adjusted to reflect the available resources and constraints. For example, if a task normally takes a full-time person one day to complete, but you can only assign a specific person half-time to that task,; Project will allocate two days to complete the task. This approach is called resource driven scheduling. A wealth of options for balancing resources, delaying resources, and overloading resources is provided.
